After his 4th place finish in Dubai, Micky Yule secured a hat trick of third place finishes at the last IPC Power LIfting World Cup before the Rio 2016 qualification places are announced.

Zoe Newson took Bronze in the -45kg weight class followed by four time paralympian Natalie Blake who also finished in 3rd place with a lift of 98kg before narrowly missing her final lift of 99kg.

Yule topped off the hat trick of Bronze medals placing third in the 72kg weight category with three successful lifts, his last lift was 192kg.

This Bronze medal boosts the Scotsman’s chances of qualifying for Rio 2016.

Talking about the weeks performances and the qualification process for Rio Tom Whittaker, British Weight Liftings Paralympic Performance Manager siad, “It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the GB team – particularly Micky and Natalie with two major competitions in two weeks – and our athletes should be happy with their performances in Kuala Lumpur.

“With ranking totals extremely close we are now waiting for IPC clarification on athlete eligibility before final places for each weight category can be confirmed, but we’re confident that each member of the team has given themselves the best possible chance of a place in Rio.”

Micky will find out whether or not he has qualified for Rio in April.
